SMFA was tasked with revitalising the southern Rundle Mall façade for Myer Centre Adelaide, aiming to breathe new life into the centre with a fresh and updated appearance.
Situated in the heart of Adelaide, the upgrades to the Myer Centre façade aim to enhance the aesthetic appeal of the long, prominent frontage within Rundle Mall.
New, high-performance glazing and a ventilated screen system will form a new, revitalised facade to the Centre, transforming the existing proportions of the building whilst maintaining the familiar scale of the building. The existing aluminium glazing channels will be repurposed into the new design to create a dynamic facade of thoughtfully arranged vertical battens within a considered pattern system.
A large new canopy at ground level ensures comfort and shelter for patrons whilst adding depth to draw people into the Centre. The inclusion of additional lighting within the canopy transforms the atmosphere of the mall particularly at night to amplify the appeal of the Centre to visitors.
