About

The Waterloo Station Hotel has recently undergone an architectural transformation, unveiling a new beer garden, fitout and children play areas among other upgrades.

Alongside Australian Venue Co., SMFA worked to deliver a freshly renovated Waterloo Station Hotel, including the addition of a vibrant beer garden, upgrades and interior fit-out of the gaming space and children’s play space, and dedicated outdoor children’s play area.

A key driver of the design was to allow for differing patron experiences, ranging from casual communal interactions, to a private and intimate dining experience, and bookings for large group settings. Zoned areas through raised planters and materiality, strong indoor/outdoor connectivity, and varied seating arrangements are provided in response.

Connecting to the west of the existing sports bar, the beer garden offers an extensive, zoned outdoor space including booth and bar style seating, a large outdoor TV screen for entertainment, feature deck, outdoor bar, covered outdoor spaces and fireplace.

The considered interior scheme and textured material palette forges a contemporary and welcoming ambiance to the existing Bistro, Kids Play, and Gaming Room. The gaming room has been upgraded to a state-of-the-art offering, including an updated bar servery and new tea/coffee station.

The inclusion of both covered and uncovered outdoor areas, and ceiling fans and a fire place, provide comfortable settings for patrons year-round.
