Brougham Court Apartments

Since its inception the integration of landscaping has been pivotal to the design. The garden setting of North Adelaide has been brought in to each apartment through generous terraces with raised planters, two green roofs and perimeter gardens.

Two significant heritage places, the State Heritage Listed Ebenezer Chapel and a Local Heritage Listed Victorian Villa, envelope the new building.  With the new apartments staggered in the background to reduce visual impact, the heritage character of the site is the centrepiece of the design.

The concept uses a plinth, podium, and penthouse form. The lowest level features a traditional stone plinth, adding weight and grounding the design. The podium, clad in a traditional soft zinc, blends into the background subservient to the heritage places. Through lighter and reflective materiality the penthouse blends into the skyline.

The development consists of 11 dwellings in total, each offered a cellar, generous private terrace and separate lounge and living areas.
